The Source that will make your home healthy again

Good afternoon everyone I hope that you had a safe and wonderful week. This week will be going over the different products that most people use on a regular basis and outline the ingredients that are in them.
Researchers have shown with test on animals that a sufficient amount of these chemicals are dangerous. Does it make it any different on people like you and I or our children. No it doesn’t, have you ever known of someone who had passed away of lung cancer and didn’t even smoke. People that take great care of themselves and there is something always wrong with them. Looking at the studies on the household cleaners we use, we might begin to wonder why.

Aerosols   most of us know what these are but do you know how it can affect you. Aerosols can include formaldehyde, phenols, toluene and phthalates, among other toxins and carcinogens. What makes using aerosols so dangerous is that it stays in the air going through your duct works causing you to breath longer. Dangers associated with aerosols are skin, eye and throat irritation and may cause lung damage.

Air Fresheners and Room Deodorizers   here we go toxins we can’t pronounce. Naphthalene, terpenes and dichlorobenzene which are known to reduce lung functions and are possible carcinogens. Many fresheners are known to contain phthalates.

All Purpose Cleaners   contains solvents and surfactants suspected in causing or aggravating asthma symptoms; phthalates, formaldehyde and ethylene glycol butyl ether, which has been shown to cause reproductive problems such as testicular damage, reduced fertility, death of embryos and birth defects. Some of the products contain morpholine which can cause liver and kidney damage. Ethylene glycol is also in antifreeze and has known to kill animals that ingest it.

Antibacterial Cleaners  many contain triclosan a chemical that may increase the resistance of some bacteria to antibiotics.

Automatic Dishwashing Detergents   has complex phosphates (which are banned from laundry detergents) which pollute our water ways and fostering oxygen-depleting algae blooms and chlorine which can become a harmful vapor during drying cycle. The European Union has banned many common rinse aids.

Glass Cleaners  some contain ammonia which is a poison that affects the respiratory system and can be an irritant to your eyes, skin and throat.

Hey for all you men reading this did you notice I highlighted the word phthalates and for a good reason. This ingredient can cause a world of hurt to us in the area of reproduction. Low sperm count, testicular atrophy, and a higher incidences of undescended testicles. I know this is a lot to take in although it is very important for everyone to learn the possible effects these products can have on us. There are so many more that I can go over but I think I will give you a source to go to for you to look at what you use the most in your homes.
House Hold Product Database at the National Institute of Health
Go to this site and look up by brand or ingredient to see some of the results that are giving.
All that I ask if you are going to stay with the products that you are using which I don’t recommend, please follow the instructions all the way through. I do suggest that you check out some other alternatives at http://www.shaklee.net/healthygreenliving/getclean
Until next week when I will have some more education information and as always any questions call or email me.
